Sure you had something to hide
I took your bag and looked inside
And I was looking for life
Nothing inside but memories
The same as those I keep with me
I'm still looking for life
Yes, I'm looking for life
Yes, I'm looking for life
There's more to love than holding hands
I think that we both understand
It's part of looking for life
I thought for so long I couldn't sleep
The thought was what was hindering me
And now I'm looking for life
Yes, I'm looking for life
Yes, I'm looking for life
Yes, I'm looking for life
Yes, I'm looking for life
Yes, I'm looking for life
Yes, I'm looking for life
I'm looking for life
I'm looking for life
Starting at 3:13 there are some indecipherable backing vocals. These are in fact Peter Boam rather than Jarvis. Apparently, he was singing the words to an old song of his own, something like: "Once I had, I had a vision / Brilliant white walls and lights in each corner they danced". Jarvis thought it sounded "like bloody Gene Pitney" and had it faded down in the mix.(1)
