The Limit (venue)

  • Address: 70 West Street, Sheffield, S1

The Limit was a nightclub and live venue situated in the basement of an old clothing factory on West Street, Sheffield. It opened in 1978 and closed in January 1991. The building has since been demolished and replaced with luxury apartments.

It is remembered for being dark due to the low ceiling and black painted walls. People also recall the sticky floors and the toilets invariably being flooded. Despite these things it is perhaps the most fondly remembered of all Sheffield's former nightclubs.

Pulp played here at least seven times.
