The Leadmill is a well-known live music venue and nightclub located on Leadmill Road at the edge of Sheffield city centre. It began in 1980 in response to the lack of cultural facilities in Sheffield. It was then a derelict industrial property which had been used as a bus garage. At first it operated along the lines of a co-operative providing facilities for the local community. Theatre and educational projects took place here, in addition to live music. Over time its community role declined and by the early 90s it was well on the way to becoming the large commercial operation it is today.

The venue's operators currently face being evicted by the building's owners. If this happens the building is likely to continue as a live music venue but under a new name.

Pulp have played at The Leadmill at least 18 times, which is probably more often than for any other venue.

In 2015 a plaque was unveiled outside the venue proclaiming: Pulp first performed here 16 August 1980 at The Leadmill. Strictly speaking this isn't correct, it was actually their second proper gig, but it was the first in Sheffield (if you exclude the City School lunchtime performance).
