Competition! Win a copy of Russell Senior's new book ''Freak Out the Squares''

Two copies of Russell's new book are available, just answer this question - Russell Senior wrote the first ever review of a Pulp show in his fanzine, what was the name of that fanzine?

We will choose two people at random from the correct answers received. The competition closes on 30th October.

*Competition now closed - congratulations to Carole and Eamonn who will be receiving copies of the book soon.*

Russell Senior's eagerly awaited book Freak Out the Squares: Life in a band called Pulp was published on 1st October by Aurum Press. It is Russell's account of life inside Pulp written in his own inimitable style.

Pulp announce digital release of After You

After You is to be released as a digital download on Monday, 28th January. It will be available from iTunes, Amazon.co.uk and possibly elsewhere.

The track is Pulp's first new recording in a decade. The band made the recording with producer James Murphy late last year. It has previously been made available as a free download on Christmas Day exclusively to fans who attended the December Sheffield Arena concert and collected a Christmas card containing a download code.

According to a press release, the decision to give the track a commercial release was prompted by the “considerable interest” generated since the limited download in December.

Pulp's Christmas gift - a new recording of 'After You'

At Pulp's homecoming show on 8th December, Christmas cards were given out containing a download code for a Christmas gift. This was made available on Christmas Day and surprisingly turned out to be a new recording of the song After You.

According to Pitchfork, this was recorded by the band in November, and then finished with the help of LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy in December in London and while on the Coachella cruise.

After You was written around 1999-2000 and at least one demo version was recorded at that time. It was never released, although some fans are familiar with it after a demo recording was mysteriously leaked by someone posting on the Bar Italia message board in 2008.
